Quantum3D AA5(R) Drivers

This release includes AA5 drivers for Windows NT 4.0 with
Service Pack 5 (or later). It is very important that you follow the
procedures to successfully install AA5 drivers.

I. Minimum System Requirements
==============================
- PCI 2.1 compliant for AA5 PCI
- Pentium(R) III class or faster processor
- 128MB of system memory
- Available PCI expansion slot
- Windows NT 4.0 with SP5 (or later)
- SVGA compatible monitor


II. Windows NT
===============
NOTE: If you intend to uninstall a previous release of these
drivers before installing this release, you must install the
Q3dInfUt.exe Update by right-mouse clicking on the UpdateQ3dInfUt.inf
file and selecting Install.

 A. Driver Installation Procedures for Windows NT 4.0
 ----------------------------------------------------
 During the installation, AA5 files with common names for
 3dfx technologies (e.g., VSA-100) are copied to the
 C:\Program Files\Q3D\AA5\WinNT subdirectory
 should you need to restore them manually.

 Follow the procedure below to install the drivers for AA5.

 1. Start Windows NT. Be sure to log onto the computer with an
    account that has local Administrator privileges (required for
    updating the system registry).
 2. Insert the AA5 Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
 3. From the START menu, select Programs and then Windows NT Explorer.
 4. Click on CD-ROM drive in the All Folders panel.
 5. Double click on the WinNT directory in the Contents panel.
 6. Right mouse click on AA5.INF in the Contents panel and
    select Install.  Windows NT will copy the AA5 device
    drivers to your hard drive.
 7. You will then be prompted to restart the computer.
    Click on the Yes button.

 B. Driver Installation Procedures for Windows 2000
 --------------------------------------------------
 During the installation, AA5 files with common names for
 3dfx technologies (e.g., VSA-100) are copied to the
 C:\Program Files\Q3D\AA5\WinNT subdirectory
 should you need to restore them manually.

 Follow the procedure below to install the drivers for AA5.

 1. Start Windows 2000. Be sure to log onto the computer with an
    account that has local Administrator privileges (required for
    updating the system registry).
 2. Found New Hardware Wizard will detect a new Multimedia Video
    Controller.  Click Next to continue installation.
 3. Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so I
    can choose a specific driver."  Click on Next.
 4. Under Hardware types select Display Adapter and click on Next.
 5. Select "Have Disk" and browse to the directory containing the
    drivers to install and select AA5.INF and click on Open.
 6. Click on OK from Install from disk.
 7. The driver name "Quantum3D AA5 PCI Windows NT" will appear. Click
    on Next.
 8. An Update driver warning message box will appear.  Click on Yes
    to continue installing, then click Next.
 9. A Digital Signature not found warning message box will appear.
    Click on Yes to continue installation.
 10.Click on Finish and select Yes to restart your computer.

 NOTE: The driver must be installed a second time when a dual board
       configuration is utilized.


 C. Testing AA5
 -----------------
 To verify that AA5 is operating properly, launch the Glide
 test applet from the AA5 tab in the Display Properties.

 NOTE: Direct3D is not supported with Windows NT.

 1. From the Start menu select Settings and then Control Panel.
 2. Double click the Display icon. The Display Properties will
    appear. Select the AA5 tab.
 3. Click on the Test button. The Glide test applet should appear
    on the screen at the default settings.




III. Removing AA5 Drivers
==========================
 1. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel.
 2. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs, select the Install/Uninstall
    tab.
 3. Scroll through the list and select the Quantum3D AA5
    entry.
 4. Click the Add/Remove button.
 5. When prompted to restart the computer, click the No button.
 6. Shut down the computer. Remove AA5 from the computer.
